The Largemouth Bass - Generalities

comments Comments (0)
By Admin, May 7, 2011 5:06 pm

In America, the largemouth bass definitely represents the most popular
fish anglers like to catch as it gives them the possibility to
experience some exciting fishing sessions.

Scientifically, the largemouth bass is known as Micropterus salmoides
and it can be found everywhere in the world. In Greek, "micropterus"
can be translated as "small" whereas "salmoides" means "trout" or
"salmon". Who would have thought that the bass is practically named a
small-finned salmon (or trout)? As far as the other popular names of
this species are concerned, these are big mouth bass, wide-mouth bass
or even black bass. The largemouth bass is indeed really interesting
and catching it is the hobby of millions of anglers regardless of sex,
age or race.

The color of this type of bass is usually olive green with dark spots,
normally black, marks which are disposed into an uneven horizontal
stripe present on both flanks. The largemouth bass has the capacity to
change color in accordance with the environment and temperature. The
name of this bass comes from its wide jaw that goes beyond its ears.
There are specimens that are almost entirely
-

black therefore they are also named black bass. The reason for this
coloration is probably derived from the dark waters in which they live.
Here, the colored specimens are probably incapable to reach adulthood
because they are eaten when young.

The female largemouth bass tends to be larger than the male, but when
the fish is small, it is quite hard to tell the sex. Anyhow, females
are usually chunkier and thicker that males, exactly as it happens with
lots of aquarium fish. If you still need to find out the sex of the
fish, all you have to do is milk the bass and see what comes out, eggs
or sperm.

The favorite place of the largemouth bass is shallow water rich in
weeds. Unlike the smallmouth bass, this bass likes warmer, shallower
waters. When the water becomes too hot, the bass will go deeper and can
stay there longer, simply because it can survive in an environment that
has minimal oxygen supply.

The largemouth bass spawns in spring as their reproduction is
influenced by temperature. The female lays the eggs and ends her
contribution to the reproduction process. Further on, in the nest it
has made, the male takes care of the eggs and protects the baby fish
until they are one month old.

The bass likes to hunt early in the morning as well as at dusk. In
summer, it even goes out searching for prey at night. The favorite
meals of bass consist of minnows, bugs, small critters, crayfish,
snakes, frogs, newts and generally any creature smaller than them. They
sometimes get to eat their own babies as well.

When faced with an enemy, the bass can rely on other specimens of its
own kind. If, for instance, one of them is caught or it is alarmed by a
lure or hook, it is very possible that you will not manage to catch
another largemouth bass in that area, especially if the water is
shallow and clear.

Pro Bass Fishing - How to Get There

The most common words associated with fishing are relaxation,
satisfaction, tranquility, excitement and pro bass fishing easily fits
the description. However, for that to become reality, you must first
become experienced enough so that fishing should turn into a rewarding
profession. Pro bass fishing is all about having the chance to take
part in fishing competitions against other skilled anglers, but it is
also about traveling a lot and, why not, earning loads of money as a
prize. Pro bass fishing is not exactly piece of cake if you lack
practice. Hard work is the answer to a successful fishing "career" as
well as knowing what resources to use and how to use them.

The first rule of pro bass fishing is to be serious and dedicated. If
you approach it as a pro, then a lot of time, dedication and effort
must be invested in this activity. There is no other way around.

You must try al the time to perfect your fishing method. Sooner or
later, pro bass fishing will bring you face to face with some of the
most skilled anglers and that means you have to do your best to refine
your technique if you want to become a winner.
-

This also implies knowing everything about the bass, its habitat and
its habits. Such details are extremely important when it comes to
winning a competition.

A mentor who can unveil the secret tips of this sport would help you a
lot in learning better and faster your pro bass fishing techniques.
Fishing classes would also be an advantageous approach of the matter.

Pro bass fishing presupposes considerable expenses; therefore you need
to make sure you can afford this. Remember, investing in fishing
equipment, baits, boats, travel expenses, contest fees and so on is a
must.

Credibility is also important in this situation and it can be earned by
joining a professional association for anglers. As well, such a
membership might be mandatory in certain pro fishing contests.

Being a member of a fishing club is another aspect you should consider.
A fishing club will always organize tournaments all year round and that
gives you the possibility to participate locally or nationally. Your
reputation can grow if you manage to win contests. The more you win,
the more famous you become as a pro angler.

In tournaments you might need a sponsor and that can be easily arranged
if you are a reputed angler. Also, it is highly important for your
moral to have your family on your side. Pro bass fishing means
traveling quite a lot and you surely want your beloved ones to
understand this passion of yours. Try to make them part of your
preoccupation.

Last but not least, you must be aware that your "other" job remains
important, at least until you become a reputed angler. This means you
need to have an understanding boss who will allow you to take part in
tournaments. Pro bass fishing might not be for you after all and you
might see yourself compelled to go on with your regular job in order to
make a living.

Find other ZORGIUM pages using your favorite search engine:

Enter your search keyword(s) and the keyword "zorgium" into the search input field of http://bing.com, http://yahoo.com or http://google.com.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
